Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday said that there is no specific threat of militant attack centring around observing the National Mourning Day on August 15.

He also claimed that the law enforcing agencies have destroyed the militants’ network.

The home minister said surveillance and monitoring have already been beefed up to stop crimes during the month of mourning.

The home boss further said, the government took ‘zero tolerance’ stand against all sorts of crimes, including militancy and terrorism, and demolished militant network across the country.

Asaduzzaman Kamal said that no criminal would be spared.

He further said that stern actions would be taken if anyone tries to create anarchy in the country.

Militancy is now under control and about to be eliminated from the country, he added.

He, however, said, special security measures have been taken in the country for peaceful observance of the month of mourning.

Our law enforcement agencies, especially the elite force RAB and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police can face any kind of challenge as they are now more capable and efficient, he continued.

Asaduzzaman Kamal, who is also a veteran freedom fighter said, the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly with firm determination to establish a crime and militancy-free society.

The law enforcement agencies have destroyed militants’ dens and their network across the country. Now police and intelligence agencies are on high alert in dealing with any untoward situation for safety and security of the people, the home minister continued.

He further said that the anti-militant operations are going on and will continue in the future as well.

He told that not only conducting anti-militant operations, the law enforcers have launched anti-militancy campaigns across the country.

Terming the existence of any alien militants in the country as untrue, he said there are home-grown militants and they expose themselves in different identities.

Their motive is to make the country unstable. Sometimes they were identified as Jamaat-ul-Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB), sometimes as Neo-JMB and even Ansarullah Bangla Team, he described.

Militants, perpetrators, plotters, rumour spreaders, troublemakers and religious fanatics would be dealt with an iron hand, he added.
