No substitute for research to take university forward: CU VC

A seminar on 'Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells' and 'Experience Sharing on Publication in High Impact Journals' was organized by the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Chittagong University. Chittagong University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shirin Akhter was present as the chief guest in the seminar.  Professor Benu Kumar Dey, CU Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Dr Mohammad Nasim Hasan, Dean, Faculty of CU Science, Professor Dr Mohammad Helal Uddin were present as special guests.

 Professor Dr Sumon Barua, Coordinating Professor, Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Kanazawa University, Japan presided over the function.  The keynote address was delivered by Dr Md Shahiduzzaman (Sohail), Assistant Professor, Nanomaterials Research Institute, Kanazawa University, Japan.

 CU VC Professor Dr Shirin Akhtar said that the more developed a country is in science, the more it progresses on the path of development.  The seminar-symposium enriches the university as well as enriches the knowledge base of the teachers-researchers and students of the university.  

There is no substitute for research to take the university forward.  Researchers are working day and night to make solar energy more widely available and accessible to human beings;  As a result of their research work, the way has been paved for the use of solar energy in different fields including industries in different countries of the world.

 She said that such seminars help teachers and researchers in exchanging knowledge and understanding to improve the quality of research.  It is possible to elevate the university to an international standard by publishing quality research work of teachers and researchers in reputed international journals.

 Teachers and students of the department were present at the seminar conducted by Md. Rashedul Azim, Lecturer, Department of CU Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
