As per the directions of the Election Commission, the government has imposed a ban on political gatherings, rallies, and similar programmes that may disrupt the electoral process, across the country from 18 December until the end of the 12th parliamentary election, slated for January 7.
The Public Security Division of the Home Ministry issued a circular regarding the ban on Thursday (14 December).
It is hereby requested to take necessary measures to prevent everyone from taking and implementing any type of gatherings, rallies or any other type of political program which may obstruct the election work or discourage the voters from voting without election campaigning from 18 December until the end of the election period, reads the circular.
Earlier on 12 December, the Election Commission forwarded instructions to the Ministry of Home Affairs in this regard.
The 12th national parliamentary election is scheduled for January 7, 2024. Aspirant candidates will start their campaign from 18 December.
