Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said that no cattle markets will be allowed to be set up on road ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, reports UNB.
“No cattle market will be allowed on the road and cattle-laden trucks must have banner mentioning the market place. Besides, cattle-laden trucks will not be allowed to make a stoppage on road,” he said at a meeting at the ministry on law and order situation over the preparation for Eid-ul-Azha.
The law enforcing agencies will take necessary steps to ensure health and hygiene issues at the cattle markets following the guideline of the Health Minister, said Asaduzzaman.
Mentioning that this year the authorities concerned have emphasised online cattle markets, the Minister said already the Health Ministry has taken a decision to set up a cattle market outside Dhaka city and the Local Government Ministry and the city corporations will take steps in this regard.
People planning to visit cattle markets must wear masks and if anyone is found without a mask, then he will have to purchase a mask from the leaseholder (izaradar) of the cattle market, said the Minister.
The izaradars have to take steps for hand washing or keeping hand sanitiser to ensure health issues, he said.
Meanwhile, members of Coast Guard and river police will take steps to check carrying of extra passengers on ferries and launches ahead of Eid. They will also keep vigil to prevent overloading of cattle on vessels, he added.
Like previous years, the law enforcing agencies will take steps to stop circulation of fake notes, extortion, and dope gangs, said the minister.
The Industries and Commerce Ministry will set the prices of rawhide and its proper marketing, he said.
The production of the garment factories can be suspended for a shorter period while the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the owners of RMG factories will take steps to provide salary and bonus of the workers in time.
Besides, the Religious Affairs Ministry will take decisions over the congregation of Eid-ul-Azha.
Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam on Saturday urged all concerned to arrange sacrificial animal markets in large spaces with a limited number of people.
Health guidelines and social distancing rules must be followed at any place where sacrificial animal markets are arranged, he said while inaugurating ‘DNCC Digital Haat’, an online platform for buying and selling sacrificial animals.
