Man is a child of nature, the greatest and most intelligent of the eighteen lakh species on earth. Utilizing that conscience and intelligence given by nature, man has now become a curse for nature.

That is why people are endangered and devastated by various natural calamities. Therefore, it is not possible to protect the existence of mankind in any way without compromising with nature.

The speakers said these at a symbolic public gathering on the bank of Dauki River at Jaflong under Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet on Saturday. Sari Nodi Bachao Andolan, an environmental organisation, arranged event on the occasion of World Environment Day.

Tourism businessman Kuti Miah presided over the gathering while Purbo Jaflong Union Parishad Chairman Freedom Fighter Lutfar Rahman Lebu spoke there as the chief guest. Abdul Hai Al-Hadi, President of Sari Nodi Bachao Andola,  spoke as the keynote speaker on the occasion.

Speakers at the rally further said that when the whole human race is tired due to an invisible virus called corona, it is seen that nature is waking up in a new venture. While this new awakening of nature is a blessing for mankind, it is also a shame for mankind.

That is why there is no alternative to adapting to nature so that mankind does not have to face such shameful situations in the future.

Emphasizing on the importance of planting trees in the current monsoon season, the speakers said that every person needs to plant trees in his own homestead. Everyone is urged to be more humane and caring towards forests and wildlife.

Expressing satisfaction over the positive changes in life, environment and nature in Jaflong, they said that everyone should work together to sustain this change in the future as well.

All are specially requested to prevent pollution and flooding of the river and to refrain from all activities that destroy hills, mountains and forests.
