No alternative to Awami League for country’s dev

Agri Minister says at convocation of Mawlana Bhashani University

Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Sunday said there is no alternative to Awami League for the development of the country.

“Pakistani regime killed our intellectual persons and destroyed infrastructures, so that we can not stand on our own feet as a prosperous and developed nation,” Razzaque said while addressing the 3rd convocation of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Tangail on Sunday.

“Bangabandhu prioratise science and technology based education for the advancement of the country. The government is making its all-out strides to utilize the youth force as they are the real asset of the country.” the minister added. 

"The government has been implementing different education friendly steps for the development of standard of education and research along with infrastructural development in the last 14 years," he said.

On behalf of President M Abdul Hamid, also Chancellor of MBSTU, the agriculture minister chaired the convocation and conferred degrees on the graduates.

Center for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) Bangladesh founder and coordinator Valerie Ann Taylor joined it as the convocation speaker while MBSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Farhad Hossain delivered the welcome address.

Razzaque said the government is providing a huge number of fellowships to encourage students in research works.

"The role of skilled human resources is very important for the overall development of a country in the current world. Skilled human resources are more important in countries like ours which have very limited natural resources," he said.

The minister underscored the need for building the students as skilled human resources through time-befitting and practical education.

Earlier, on behalf of the chancellor, Abdur Razzaque joined the convocation procession and inaugurated the convocation.
