Lt. Col. (retd) Niranjan Bhattacharya and Bijay Krishna Bhattacharya have been re-elected president and general secretary respectively and journalist Deepak Kumar Acharjee has been re-elected chief coordinator of the central executive committee of the Bangladesh Brahman Sangsad (BBS).
Around three thousand members of the BBS attended the tri-annual conference at the Bangladesh Railway Puja Mandir in city’s Shjahanpur recently, said a press release.
The country’s Brahman community of the Hindu launched the Bangladesh Brahman Sangsad in 2014. Former vice-chancellor (VC) of National University Dr Durgadas Bhattacharjee, chief patron of the Sangsad, General Secretary BijayKrishna Bhattacharya, editor and publisher of The South Asian Times, also the chief coordinator of the BBS Deepak Kumar Acharjee and other senior leaders of the Sangsad spoke at the conference.
General secretary Bijay Krishna Bhattacharya placed seven-point demands which includes introducing quota system in all district for the people of the Hindu community for fresh appointment.
Lt. Col. (retd) Niranjan Bhattacharya said the main objective of the Sangsad was to unite all Brahmans of the country and achieving Brahmanism.
