A total of 9 accused were arrested with weapons on different charges in separate drives in Chattogram's Banshkhali on Friday night.
Chattogram's Banshkhali police station OC Md. Kamal Uddin and second officer of the police station SI Rajiv Poddar led the operation in different places of the upazila.
In the operation, Amjad Ali Prakash (40), who allegedly raped his own daughter, was arrested from an area adjacent to a tea garden with domestically made LG at Techipara area of Pukuria Union. He is the son of Monir Ahmad. A case has been filed against him at Banshkhali Police Station on the charge of raping his 14-year-old daughter at his home on the night of March 2. There are multiple robbery cases against him in various police stations including Banshkhali police station.
In addition, the police arrested Md. Nechar Ahmed (58), son of deceased Lokman Hakim of West Chambal Khalifa Para area along with 1 single-barreled gun and 2 rounds of cartridges from Chambal area of the upazila. He is accused of 3 other cases of robbery filed Banshkhali police station.
Moreover, Police seized 3700 pcs Yaba and arrested Md Ashek son of Masudur Rahman of East Chambal Baddar Para area, Hochan Ahmed (50) son of deceased Ali Akbar of Chander Para area of Teknaf Police Station, Cox's Bazar, son of deceased Ali Akbar, Md Zakaria (28) son of deceased Abdul Mannan of Sairar Dale area of Maheshkhali Police Station in Teknaf Municipality. Md Ismail Hossain (33) son of Hamid Hossain of Monaf Para area and Md Morshed (19) son of deceased Ahmed Hossain of the same area and 2 others.
They were handed over to the court on Saturday morning.
Banskhali police station officer in charge (OC) Md. Kamal Uddin said, "A rapist father has been arrested in the case of raping his own daughter in Pukuria area. Thana police will continue to carry out the operation to make Banskhali free from drugs and terrorism.
