A nine-feet long python was found in Gazaria upazila of Munshganj on Wednesday.
The python was captured by locals from a pond in Dakkhin Para area at Purana Baushia village in the upazila on Wednesday morning. According to local residents, the python was spotted in the pond early in the morning. The news quickly spread, prompting people from the surrounding areas to rush to the location. Several individuals then managed to capture the snake and place it in a bag.
Local farmer Mahfuz Mia said he spotted the python in the trap net placed near his house. Initially frightened, he quickly alerted the locals. As news spread, people started gathering to see the snake. They later informed the upazila’s forest officer about the incident.
Bilal Miya, a local resident, mentioned that when word spread about the python being trapped in the net, more people gathered to see it. The snake was then safely brought out and moved to a higher area.
Upazila Forest Officer Asaduzzaman Shafi confirmed that they rescued the snake. He added that officials from the Dhaka office were on their way, and the snake would be handed over to them. The Dhaka team would release the snake in a suitable location.
Gazaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kohinoor Akter said she received reports of the incident from local sources and was currently looking into the matter.
