For the first time in Rangamati district town, a nine-day “Women Entrepreneurs’ Fair–2025” has begun. The fair was inaugurated on Friday at Rangamati Chamber of Commerce and Industry building, drawing attention from local business leaders, officials, and the public.
The event was formally opened by Rangamati Additional Superintendent of Police Md Iqbal Hossain and President of Rangamati Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Advocate Mamunur Rashid Mamun. Among others present at the inauguration were Md Nazim Uddin, Mohammad Mohsin Rana, Nesar Ahmed, and Md Jasim Uddin, along with other prominent leaders of the Rangamati Chamber.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chamber President Advocate Mamunur Rashid Mamun highlighted that Rangamati, as a hill district town, is a central hub for various types of business activities. However, women entrepreneurs are still lagging behind in the local business sector. With the aim of enabling women entrepreneurs to brand and showcase their self-produced goods, both in Rangamati and at the national level, the fair has been organised to help women expand their businesses and gain wider recognition.
He further noted that Rangamati is a tourist-friendly city, attracting visitors throughout the year. Through this fair, many tourists will have the opportunity to explore the diverse range of locally produced products and potentially place orders, boosting sales. He expressed hope that such initiatives would not only help women progress in business but also enable them to achieve economic self-reliance, strengthen local entrepreneurship, and contribute positively to the district’s overall economy.
The fair features around 40 stalls showcasing a variety of products, including handicrafts, textiles, local food items, and decorative goods, and will continue until 27 December, providing ample opportunity for both local buyers and tourists to engage with women entrepreneurs and support their ventures.
