Nikunja canal excavation nears completion

Lake renovation adjoining Nikunja residential area is going on in full swing and is near completion, this will increase the aesthetic view of the lake as well as reduce water logging of the concerned area. The excavating work is being carried out under the project of digging two 100-foot wide canals on both sides of Kuril-Purbachal link road.

After visiting the construction area of the canals, sources said that the work is going on in full swing and is near completion. Moreover, people of the residential areas adjacent to the location are happy that the waterlogging problem will finally be resolved. Project implementation organisation 24 Engineer Construction Brigade information showed, the project is being executed as part of the 100-foot wide canals digging at Kuril-Purbachol. This lake will be connected to the 100 feet canal. Besides a walkway is being constructed on both sides of the canal for people’s benefit.

According to Water Development Board, the lake is important for Nikunjo 1-2 and other adjacent areas as water from those areas come to this lake. Later, through sluicegate the water go to lower parts. Once the canals are finished, it will connect with 100 feet canal and water logging of these areas will be eliminated, the information showed.
