The Rohingya camps have been places where many nongovernmental organizations have worked for the past couple of years in order to bring stability to the refugees and also provide aide. But, recent reports published in various national dailies have revealed that allegations have been raised against NGOs who have been working against the repatriations of refugees. And under these circumstances the government has launched a wide scale investigation regarding the work sphere of specific NGOs.

Already the foreign minister has announced that the government has seen fit to suspend a total of 41 NGOs out of 139 which are active in the Rohingya camps due to their involvement in misdeeds. This is undoubtedly a great initiative on part of the government as it shows a strong headed drive against anti-Rohingya-repatriation forces.

It is being suspected that external agents

are working on behalf of forces which don’t

want Rohingya repatriation

Seeing this, already multiple NGOs have started lobbying for ensuring that no strict action is taken against them. But, this should not influence the NGO Affairs Bureau from taking any viable action to prevent any further misdeeds from taking place. Moreover, it is being suspected that external agents are working on behalf of forces that don’t want Rohingya repatriation. And the NGOs are working as a buffer media between the government’s drive to root out the anti-repatriations agents.

The international pressure on Myanmar for repatriation of the Rohingyas is insurmountable but still the Myanmar government is repeatedly ignoring the issue and is totally against the repatriation of the Rohingyas. The authorities concerned should give special focus on finding out the agents who are working behind riling up the Rohingyas and are doing misdeeds.
