Neymar Jr. stays at Paris Saint-Germain, Mauro Icardi seals his loan move to PSG from Inter Milan and Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan joins Roma on a season-long loan deal as the clock ticked down on the French league's transfer window, which closed at midnight Monday, report agencies.

Two years after joining PSG for a world record 222 million euros  Neymar clearly wanted to leave. "We always said that, if we were happy with an offer, we were ready to let him leave," Leonardo said. "That offer never arrived."

There were several reported offers for the Brazil star, including Barcelona sending winger Ousmane Dembele to PSG on loan as part of a cash-plus-players deal with Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic also joining PSG along with 130 million euros.

Meanwhile, Mauro Icardi made the deadline day switch to the French capital and arrived in Paris on Monday afternoon to complete a medical.

Inter will not have the option to buy the 26-year-old but have beaten off competition from several clubs in Spain and Italy to secure his services, report RMC. Icardi was told earlier this summer by Antonio Conte he was surplus to requirements at the San Siro after they Nerazzurri splashed £74million on Romelu Lukaku.

On the other hand, Roma have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan on a season-long loan deal.

The Italian club will pay a loan fee and the 30-year-old's wages, but there is no option or obligation to buy the Armenia international.

Mkhitaryan joined the Gunners from Manchester United in January 2018 in a swap deal involving Chile forward Alexis Sanchez.

He has scored nine goals in 59 appearances for Arsenal.
