Newly-wed housewife’s body recovered, husband held

Police of Mohanpur thana recovered the body of a newly-wed housewife from Gochha Sonarpara village under Mohanpur upazila in Rajshahi on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Mousumi Akhter, 19, wife of Nur Islam of same village. 

Shamsun Naher, mother of the housewife, filed a case with Mohanpur police station in this connection. Police, however, arrested husband Nur Islam in connection with the death of his wife. Police has recovered the body from the house of Nur Islam and sent it to the morgue of RMCH for autopsy. 

Husband and inlaws of deceased house wife claimed that Mousumi had committed suicide but Mousumi's parental side relatives claimed, Mousum was killed by her husband and his relatives and then hanged her dead body with the ceiling fan of her room. Mousumi was daughter of Ershad Ali of Gazipur in Dhaka.  

Mostaque Ahmed, Officer-in-charge of Mohanpur police station informed, Mousumi was married to Nur Islam (26) son of Alamin Islam of Gochha Sonarpara village some three months ago. Neighbours of Mousumi informed, the newlywed couple often locked in an altercation as well as feud over various family issues. 

On Saturday evening, dead body of Mousumi was seen hanging from the ceiling fan of the room. By being informed from the relatives of husband of Mousumi, Police rushed to the spot and recovered the dead body from the spot. 

Ershad Ali, father of Mousumi claimed, as a sequel of family feud, Mousumi was killed by her husband and her in-laws.

Mostaque Ahmed, Officer in charge of Mohanpur Police station said, the dead body has been sent to the morgue to RMCH for autopsy and husnad of Mousumi has been arrested. A case has been filed in this connection.
