Newly elected committee take office

The Bangladesh Chalachitra Shilpi Samiti’s biannual (2019-20) term elections were held on October 25 (Friday). Misha Sawdagar won the presidency and Zayed Khan as general secretary.

The oath ceremony of the new committee was held at the Zahir Raihan Colour Lab Auditorium of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) yesterday afternoon. The new committee president, Misha Sawdagar the was sworn in by Chief Election Commissioner Elias Kanchan. Later on, the general secretary and others were sworn in by Misha Sawdagar. 

The oath taking ceremony was attended by Faruk, Sohel Rana, Director Sohanur Rahman Sohan, president of the producers association Khorshed Alam Khasru, general secretary of the producers association Shamsul Alam, director general of the association Badiul Alam Khokhon, Masum Babul, Nader Khan and other renowned media personalities.

After taking the oath, flowers were presented to greet the newly elected committee by the producers’ association, the directors’ association, the Bangladesh Film Journalists' Association (BACCHAS) and other film organisations.

The total number of voters in the 2019-20 elections was 449. Out of which only 386 cast their votes. Monowar Hossain Dipjol and Rubel were elected as vice-presidents in this election. Arman has been appointed as the general secretary, Subrata is the organizational secretary, Emon is the secretary of international affairs, Jackie Alamgir is the office and publicity secretary, Zakir Hossain is the secretary of culture and sports, and Farhad has been elected as treasurer. Besides, Subrata, Jackie Alamgir and Farhad have been elected unopposed.

In this election of the association of artistes, there were 14 candidates nominated for 11 posts of the Executive Committee. Among those elected are Anjana Sultana, Rosina, Aruna Biswas, Aliraj, Afzal Sharif, Bapparaz, Asif Iqbal, Alexander Bow, Jasmine, Joy Chowdhury and Maruf.
