Newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rangpur DrChitralekhaNazninon Monday sought cooperation of journalists for smooth continuation of development with innovative initiatives and transparency.

"I would like to see journalists as a mirror, in which reflection of good and bad deeds will emerge. It will help to understand how work is being done," she said at a views-exchange meeting with journalists at her conference room in the city.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-General) Golam Rabbani moderated the event.

Deputy Director (Local Government) Zilufa Sultana, ADC (Education and ICT) Firuzul Islam, ADC (Revenue) Revenue AWM Raihan Shah, Additional District Magistrate Most Shahnaz Begum and other officials were present.

The participating journalists pointed out various local issues and prospects and forwarded suggestions to resolve those and explore possibilities to further accelerate development in Rangpur.

DrNaznin said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has properly valued women.

"So why, I have been able to become a Deputy Commissioner and come to the birthplace of the great woman Begum Rokeya," she said.

"I will try my best through work to leave a good sign in Rangpur where people are very simple. In only two days since joining here yesterday, I understood that local people are hospitable and good," she said.

"I want to keep that dignity of honor by working for the development of Rangpur people. This requires everyone's cooperation," she said.

She sought well co-coordinated initiatives and cooperation of everyone, especially journalists, for continuation and implementation of the government's massive development programmes.

DrNaznin urged journalists to work with positive perceptions and focus on prevailing local problems, issues, prospects and possibilities in different sectors of the district.
