There is always a tendency amongst government officials to influence high ranking officials for getting their postings at desired stations.

This situation is quite disconcerting as there is a very high possibility of irregularity caused by this system of bureaucratic lobbying. However, what the latest silver lining in all this is that there is going to be a new policy by the government that shows that there have been considerable changes made in posting policy to illuminate this irregularity.

According to a report a published in this daily, the government is going to formulate a new administrative policy in order to thwart any move by the government officials to influence higher authorities to get transferred to their desired places. This bodes well as it will act as a deterrent for government officials who want to take advantage through influencing higher officials.

For such cases of lobbying there should be

display of intra- departmental punitive action against such

officials so that it would deter

others from attempting such actions

The report also elaborates on ethical issues. Without joining the place of posting, if it is cancelled or any kind of lobbying or pressure is applied for posting at the place of one’s choice, it will be considered a breach of job discipline. For such cases of lobbying there should be display of intra-departmental punitive action against such officials so that it would deter others from attempting such actions. On the other hand, the new policy reads that someone has to be released the same day of the stand release or the day he or she is asked to be released. This shows a sense of promptness and accountability in case of switching out from departments in due time rather than taking extra time in the name of procedures.

Above all, we hope the new posting policy will come as a blessing against nepotism and bureaucratic lobbying in the government job sectors. Hopefully, we will see a new  horizon of maintaining regularity in the government offices.
