Bangladesh Bank (BB) has released bank notes of different denominations on Thursday on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha. BB official sources said, the new notes will be distributed from August 01 to August 8. Notes of Tk 10, 20, 50 and 100 denominations could be exchanged through special arrangements from 30 banks in Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur, said the BB officials.
Md. Sirajul Islam, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, told the Bangladesh Post that every year Bangladesh Bank releases new notes as per the demands from various banks on various occasions, including the Eid-ul-Azha. A person could draw up to Tk 18 thousand from different banks as per their demands, he added.
Responding to another query, the he said that they usually release new bank notes as per the demand from different banks. Responding to a query on the black market business with the new notes, he said they were not aware of such illegal business taking place. However, measures will be taken if they receive any allegation against anybody for such illicit acts, he added.
New notes will be available in the following banks and branch offices; Jatrabari Branch of NCC Bank, Abdul Gani Road; Corporate Branch of Janata Bank, National Press Club; Corporate Branch of Agrani Bank; Mirpur Branch of NRB Global Bank, Kawran Bazar Branch of Southeast Bank; Chawkbazar and Uttara branches of Social Islami Bank; Ramna Corporate Branch of Sonali Bank; Uttara Branch of Dhaka Bank; Gulshan Branch of IFIC Bank; Mohakhali Branch of National Bank; Mohammadpur Branch of First Security Islami Bank; Rajarbagh Branch of Janata Bank; Sadarghat Branch of Pubali Bank; Kakrail Branch of Southeast Bank; Basabo Branch of One Bank; Shyamoli Branch of BRAC Bank; Dhakeshwari Branch of Dutch-Bangla; Banani Branch of Southeast Bank; Dhanmondi Branch of Bank Asia; Begum Rokeya Sarani Branch of City Bank; Nandipara Branch of Al-Arafah Islami Bank; Elephant Road Branch of Prime Bank; Narayanganj Branch of Mercantile Bank; Shimrail Branch of Exim Bank and Gazipur Chowrasta Branch of Islamic Bank Bangladesh.
