The recent budget passed in the parliament shows a big chunk of the nation’s monetary resource to be spent in the communication sector. One of the major projects which are continuing in the country right now is the metro rail construction. Recently, the feasibility study and survey of the land was completed which pointed towards the fact that a new route can be constructed between Savar and Bhatara which will be known as Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line 5.

There are reports which suggest that most of the money that will be needed in the construction of the project will arrive from Japanese investments. The new line will connect a number of areas directly to the center of the capital. Moreover, the time required to travel between these two points will be substantially reduced. The local transport system whether by bus or by CNG causes a lot of time to be wasted being stuck in the traffic. The new route will contain sufficient number of stations which will make transit of people more suitable and efficient and less time consuming.

Such a plan will undoubtedly bring forth more productivity among the people of those areas. On another note, the work for the other routes of the metro rail is progressing at steady pace. The government has plans to open an underground route designated as MRT Line 1 which will link the capital’s airport with Kamalapur. Everyday thousands of people travel between these two points. Often times there are traffic congestion along these routes. So, an underground line to connect all the important parts of the capital with another is a great step forward towards development.

On top of all the benefits, the metro rail project is bound to bring up scopes for other development opportunities. The authorities concerned should take note on the traffic congestions which occur during construction of such communication related development projects and take steps to prevent it from taking place.
