The absence of proper guidelines in the private medical education sector in our country has created lots of irregularities and decreased the quality of education as well. However, it is good to note that the government has designed a law to ensure discipline in private medical and dental colleges by bringing them under the law from two separate guidelines.

According to a report published in this daily on Sunday, the proposed law says, a private medical or dental college must have at least 50 students while its teacher-student ratio will have to be 1:10. A medical college needs to have at least two acres of land in any metropolitan area while the land requirement for the dental college is one acre for setting up a medical college outside any metropolitan area. The medical and dental colleges will have to be affiliated with any public university.

If the law is enacted, it will help improve the

quality of education in private medical and dental

colleges

The government currently has no control over private medical and dental colleges. If the law is enacted, it would help ensure proper treatment and proper medical education in private medical and dental colleges.

We all agree to the fact that all private medical colleges should have an adequate number of skilled and experienced teachers. However, unfortunately, that is not the case in our country as there are countless medical colleges here and the quality of education in most of them is not up to the mark. So, to ensure a proper standard of education we must make sure that all the private medicals have the essential equipment and infrastructure.
