New Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Lakshmipur Anwar Hossain Akand exchanged views with local journalists on Wednesday evening.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-general) Mohammad Safiuzzaman Bhuiyan presided over the meeting, while Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-revenue) Mohammad Shahidul Islam, President of Lakshmipur Press Club Hossain Ahmed Helal, General Secretary Abdul Malek and former senior vice president Mohiuddin Murad were present, among others.
In his speech, Anwar Hossain Akand said that the district administration will take various initiatives to make Lakshmipur as a modern and digital district. He also said that they will work sincerely to implement plans for development.
The new DC vowed not to indulge in corruption. He, however, sought support from journalists in implementing development plans.
At the meeting, several issues, including Covid-19 situation, river erosion in the Meghna and dredging of Rahmatkhali cannel.
At the end of the meeting, the DC distributed facemasks among journalists.
Anwar Hossain Akand joined Lakshmipur as new DC as the outgoing Deputy Commissioner of the district Anjan Chandra Pal was appointed as the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
Earlier, Anwar Hossain Akand had been working as the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Health Education and Family Welfare.
