New edn minister prioritises job creation

The newly sworn in minister of education said that the government would give highest priority on creating employment opportunities to help build a ‘Smart Bangladesh’.

''We are placing maximum emphasis on employment. In smart Bangladesh, employment opportunities must be created for the smart generation,'' Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Minister of Education told journalists on Friday.

The Education Minister said this to the Education Reporters Association of Bangladesh (ERAB) leaders on Friday. The meeting was held at the minister's private residence at Banani, in the capital. 

The Minister talked about the new curriculum and its ongoing implementation issues on the occasion. He said that the new curriculum is not 100 percent permanent. There are many concerns related to the new curriculum and its evaluation system, and adjustments could be made if needed. As the government has said repeatedly, “We will make updates and corrections that are necessary.”

The minister said that there are many challenges in the new curriculum. '”If you talk about the challenges of the evaluation system, then I will say that several additions are coming to the new curriculum, and we are looking into it. Here, the evaluation method needs to be changed. Besides, several other changes have to be made.”

Chowdhury said that he wants to focus on creating employment for the youth. In this context, he said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given me the new responsibility of the new government. In light of previous experience, we will discuss and work with all stakeholders.”

The education minister said the government wants to bring all the skills related to employment into education. By doing this, students will be able to plan their education while keeping in mind the issues of employment. 

The government wants to work with the entire education system and focus on considering employment opportunities.

The members of ERAB exchanged greetings with the new minister after receiving the responsibility of the Ministry of Education. At that time, the organization's president, Shariful Alam Sumon, general secretary, Farooq Hossain, and other top leaders were also present.
