Two of the most venerable football clubs in Bangladesh, Arambagh Krira Sangha (AKS) and Dhaka Mariner Youngs, have recently appointed new presidents. Tajwar M. Awal and Samir Kadir Chowdhury have taken the reins at their respective clubs following internal elections.

Tajwar M Awal, the new president of AKS, is the younger son of the prominent businessman Abdul Awal Mintu and the younger brother of former Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) vice-president Tabith Awal. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been associated with the Premier Football League (BPL) club Feni Soccer.

Samir Kadir Chowdhury, the incoming president of Dhaka Mariner Youngs, has a strong background in sports. He is the chairman of SQ Sports Entertainment Limited and the chief executive of Dhaka Dying. Mariner Youngs, known primarily for its hockey prowess, claimed joint championship honors in the previous season.

The club also participates in table tennis, badminton, and handball.

Arambagh, a footballing institution, has a rich history, including the distinction of being the first Bangladeshi club to bring home a trophy from overseas following the country's independence. Both new presidents have expressed their commitment to upholding the traditions of their respective clubs while striving for future success.

The elections were attended by numerous club officials, and given the proximity of the two clubs, there is significant overlap in their memberships.
