The never-ending battle against mosquito menace in the capital has come into folds again. Residents in the capital continue to suffer due to mosquitoes as both of its city corporations have seemingly remained apathetic to control the vector.

Usually in the cities' construction sites high numbers of mosquitoes are found in water-filled barrels. Experts opine that the presence of mosquitoes at most construction sites is likely to grow during the monsoon. Only by focusing on larvicide rather than eliminating the breeding grounds the issue cannot be addressed properly.

Several water bodies in the city have become virtually breeding grounds for mosquitoes. But the authorities concerned are still not taking any proper steps to clean those. As a result, the same problem arises every year.

In the longer run, we need to do more than simply

killing the mosquitoes, we have to create a healthy

environment where mosquitoes do not breed in the first place

However, some steps are taken by both city corporations to tackle mosquitos. Mist blowers and fogging machines are used consistently in the sewers in different areas of the city. It is to be noted that, this method is not enough to get rid of the menace. In the longer run, we need to do more than simply killing the mosquitoes, we have to create a healthy environment where mosquitoes do not breed in the first place.

During the monsoon, stagnant pools of water keep forming all over the city, and if that remains the case, the mosquito problem will keep coming back every year, no matter how many mosquitoes we manage to kill through fogging machines and mist blowers.
