Fishing nets and ropes were distributed among fishermen at the initiative of the Fisheries Office in Santhia upazila of Pabna on Monday.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Home Ministry Alhaj Adv. Shamsul Haque Tuku MP was the chief guest of the programme while, Santhia UZ Chairman Abdullah Al Mahmud Delwar attended as the special guest.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Jamal Ahmed presided over the programme and Upazila Fisheries Officer A Halim conducted it.
Nets and ropes were distributed among 20 fisheries associations in 10 unions of the upazila at the time.
Chief Guest Adv. Shamsul Haque Tuku MP said the Sheikh Hasina government has undertaken various programs to take the country's fisheries sector forward. The government has plans to renovate and excavate all the rivers and water bodies in the country.
