Netrakona is getting Fish Research Centre

The government has decided to set up a Fish Research Centre at Mohanganj upazila in Netrokona as the district is known as fish produced area in the country.

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru disclosed the matter of the government while he was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of Fish Technology Fair-2019 in Netrakona on Saturday evening. Fish Resources Institute arranged the programme marking the National Fisheries Week-2019 

Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru said that everyone should work for increasing the fish production to ensure food security as well as to build Sonar Bangla, the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He underscored the need for furthermore boosting fish farming through the best use of the existing natural resources mainly water bodies, including rivers and beels, to eliminate poverty from the society.

M Moyeenul Isam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Netrakona, presided over the function while Habiba Rahman Khan Safali, woman MP, attended the event as the special guest. It was addressed, among others, by  Dr Eahia Mahmood, Director General of Fish Resources Institute, Caption Masuk Hasan, Principal of Bangladesh Marin Fisheries Academy, Police Super Joydev Kunmar Bhadra, Swapon Kumar Paul, Deputy Director of Fisheries Department, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Prof. Tafsir Uddin Khan, Mayor Nazrul Islam Khan, Kamrunnessa Asraf Dina, wife of the state minister and president of Mohila Awami League, Government Pleader (GP) Amirul Islam, former Commander of Muktizuddha Sansgsad  Nurul Amin, and AL leader Gazi Muzammel Haq Tuku.

Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru said that fish production has already been increased in the country for best use of existing natural resources during the tenure of the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

Habiba Rahman Khan Safali, MP, in her speech stressed the need for enhancing fish production in the water bodies of the country to meet the protein deficiency and changing the socio-economic condition of the fish farmers side by side with the creating employment opportunities to the youth.
