The delegation a courtesy meet at the Chattogram Port's board room on CPA Member (Harbour and Marine) Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah on Tuesday.
During the meeting, both sides held fruitful discussions on various issues related to port and maritime sectors, sustainable transport systems, logistics development, and potential bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and the Netherlands.
The discussions placed special emphasis on the development of the Laldia Container Terminal, port digitalization, capacity enhancement, integrated service systems, shipbuilding industry development, marine ecosystem protection, implementation of the Green Port initiative, future port development plans, expansion of hinterland connectivity, and carbon emission reduction measures.
He briefed the delegation on the ongoing development activities, expansion plans, modernization initiatives, and the strategic importance of Chattogram Port in international trade. He also sought cooperation from the Government of the Netherlands in advancing maritime education, developing skilled human resources, and organizing advanced training programs in shipbuilding and repair sectors.
The Dutch delegation assured continued cooperation in providing technical assistance, knowledge exchange, sustainable infrastructure development, and future partnership opportunities in Bangladesh’s port and maritime sectors.
Later, a detailed PowerPoint presentation was delivered on the port’s overall operations, development projects, capacity enhancement, and modernization initiatives. The delegation also visited operational areas of the port and was briefed on ongoing activities. They highly appreciated the overall performance and efficiency of Chattogram Port.
During the visit, senior officials of the Chattogram Port Authority, including Member (Finance) Md. Mahbub Alam Talukder (Additional Secretary), Member (Engineering) Commodore Md. Mazharul Islam Jewel, Directors (Transport and Administration), Harbour Master, Chief Hydrographer, and other senior officials were present.
The Dutch delegation also included experts from Nestra B.V., a specialized organization in sustainable transport and logistics, including Harrie de Leijer (Multimodal Transport and Inland Waterways) and Richard van Liere (Multimodal Transport, Port–Hinterland Connectivity and Logistics).
