Nepal national football team on Thursday has landed at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport to play two friendly matches against Bangladesh.

According to the schedule, Nepal was scheduled to land in Dhaka on a chartered flight on Thursday morning. However, they arrived at half past noon. The team has a total fleet of 35 members including players, coaches and officials.

This is the first time a foreign team has visited Bangladesh since the outbreak of the coronavirus worldwide.

Nepal has been preparing for the international friendly matches since October 31. Earlier, four members of the team's 30-member preliminary squad tested positive for Covid-19. Then last Tuesday, two more of their players was infected with corona.

Abu Naeem Sohag, general secretary of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), told the media on Wednesday, “Everyone will be tested for Covid-19 again on Thursday and the Nepal team will have to stay at the hotel until next Friday. If the corona results are negative, they will be able to start practicing from Saturday.”

Head coach Johan Kalin did not come with the Nepal fleet. Bal Gopal Maharaj will take charge instead.

The Bangladesh national football team will play a friendly match against Nepal on November 13 and 17. The matches will be held at Bangabandhu National Stadium. Keeping this challenge in mind, Jamie Day's disciples have been practicing since October 24.

The country’s football has been in stagnation since last March due to coronavirus. After the cancellation of the 2019-20 season of domestic football, the new season has not started yet. Bangladesh’s football will return to the field after a long time with the match against Nepal.
