The executive committee of National Economic Council is set to approve the annual development programme (ADP) for 2019-20 fiscal year today.
The planning commission today will place the biggest-ever Tk 2,02,721 crore annual development programme (ADP) before an ECNEC meeting, scheduled to be chaired by its chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a senior official of the commission told Bangladesh Post.

The rest Tk 71,800 crore of the ADP would be collected from external sources,” said finance ministry sources, adding the estimated ADP for the coming fiscal is 17.18 percent more than the revised figure of current one.
In the 2019-20 fiscal, transport sector will get highest allocation TK 52,805.69 crore which is 26.5% of the total ADP. The government is now constructing Padma Multipurpose Bridge, Padma Rail Link, Metro Rail Service and other ongoing projects.

The government wants to maintain continuation of the ongoing projects, especially the mega ones, in next year also.
“We have attached special importance on human development, power, infrastructure development, education, health and public-private partnership in the new ADP,” the senior official said.
Meanwhile, during the first 10 months of the current fiscal 18-19 (July-April), 54.63 percent of revised ADP has been implemented as the ministries and departments have so far spent Tk 96,493 crore. The size of ADP for the current fiscal (2018-2019) was Tk 173,000 crore, which was revised to Tk 165,000 crore later. The National Economic Council (NEC) in a meeting in March approved the revised ADP, keeping the highest priority on transport sector.
The ADP was revised by the NEC considering availability of local resources, foreign financing, keeping the overall macroeconomic situation in the mind.
It had also approved a Tk 9,620 crore RADP for the autonomous bodies and corporations and incorporating this portion, the overall size of RADP rose to Tk174,620 crore.
