National Board of Revenue (NBR) has detected around Tk 180 crore tax dodge of 103 local companies, which are taking the bond facilities, reports BSS.
Dhaka Customs Bond Commissionerate, under NBR, conducted 142 drives from February to July this year and detected the customs and tax evasion by the companies. Talking to BSS, NBR Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said the government is providing bond facilities to the companies for industrialization and export diversification. “So, we are taking strict actions against the misuse of bond facilities. We are taking necessary punitive measures against the customs and tax evasion,” he added.
He said the government is accelerating the process of conducting sudden drives in the bond warehouses and monitoring activities. According to sources, the government has already locked the BIN numbers of 311 companies and suspended their bond licenses. NBR has also cancelled the licenses of five companies.
