National Bank Limited, under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, has donated Tk 10 crore to the ‘Bangabandhu Memorial Trust’. Ron Haque Sikder, the Director of the NBL, formally handed over the cheque of Tk 10 crore to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her government residence Ganabhaban on January 6.
Bangabandhu is the indisputable leader of the independence of Bangladesh. The impact of the contribution of Father of the Nation in our lives is enormous. With the spirit of spreading the impact to generations, Bangabandhu Memorial Trust and the Government have taken a number of initiatives to commemorate the year. The National Bank Limited also has become an active part of the great celebration.
It should be mentioned that the year 2020 is remarkable and significant for the country as 100 years ago, in 1920, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born at Tungipara village of Gopalgonj district. The year 2020 is the birth centenary of Bangabandhu. In order to celebrate it, the Government has already declared the year 2020 as the ‘Mujib Barsho’ (Mujib Year).
