Nazrul’s songs vastly inspired the FF in liberation struggle , 1971 :Khasru

State minister for Fisheries And Live Stock Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru MP said here on Thursday said that the literary works, predominantly fiery and rebellious poems and songs of the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam were immense source of inspirations for the Freedom Fighters during the Liberation War, reports BSS. “Kazi Nazrul becomes national poet for his outstanding contributions in the fields of justice , equality, patriotism right to freedom and independence ” Khasru said.

The state minister Khasru said these while he was formally inaugurating as chief guest a three -day long national Nazrul conference (Jatiya Nazrul Sammelon) at local Muktarpara ground here.

He said, after the war of Independence, it was father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who brought the poet back to capital, Dhaka from India.

The state minister said Bangabandhu allotted the poet a residence and his family members where he breathed his last . Later, Nazrul was buried at Dhaka university mosque premises with state honor.

Poet Nazrul Institute in cooperation with Ministry of Cultural Affairs and district administration organized the Nazrul conference for publication and preservation of his literary works and let the young generation to acquaint closely with poet’s creativity .

Chaired by deputy commissioner Netrakona Main-UL –Islam, the inaugural function was addressed, among others, by eminent writer of the country professor Jatin Sarker, secretary of the Nazrul Institute Abdur Rahim, Mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, professor Matindra Sarker and professor Gulam Mustafa.

Later, a documentary film on the life and literary works of national poet Nazrul was screened.
