The government is going to restore Nazrul Corner at the National Museum. State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid said there was a Nazrul Corner at the National Museum. It might have been removed due to inadequacy of space or some other reson. Whatever the cause, the Nazrul Corner will be restored and very soon, he said. Through this, the new generation will know about Nazrul's literary and creative works and Nazrul practices will get more speed.
The State Minister said this while addressing the seminar on "Talks on Nazrul and Award Giving Ceremony with Cultural Programmes" organized by the Kabi Nazrul Institute at the Sufia Kamal auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on Friday.
The State Minister said, this year's 120th birth anniversary was brilliant than the other times. About 60 km on Mymensingh road a massive campaign took place with billboards, banners, festoons and so on. He said the construction of the new building of Nazrul Institute in Dhaka will be started soon, according to a new design costing around Tk 50 crore.
State Minister conveyed sincere congratulations to the artists who received the Nazrul Award 2018. In this context, he said, Nazrul award is not a donation or sympathy; it is a reward and honour presented to the highest achieving artist.
The programme was presided over by Chairperson of the Kabi Nazrul Institute Trustee Board National Professor Rafiqul Islam, along with Kobipoutri Khilkhil Kazi, member of the poet Nazrul Institute Trustee Board.
Musa Huda read a memorandum on behalf of his father Poet Muhammad Nazrul Huda, former executive director of the poet Nazrul Institute. Executive Director of Kabi Nazrul Institute Md Abdur Razzak Bhuiyan presented the welcome speech.
It is to be noted that the Nazrul Award was given to Artist Selina Hossain and Artist Joseph Kamal Rodricks for special contribution to the production of Nazrul music promotion, expansion and annotation.
Later, a pleasant cultural event was presented. Among the cultural performances were singles and group music, dance and recitation by different artistes.
