The Bangladesh Navy seized illegal arms and ammunition and detained a suspect during separate drives in Teknaf and Maheshkhali upazilas of Cox’s Bazar.
Based on secret intelligence, naval personnel carried out a raid on a robber’s hideout near Dumdumia Broken Bridge, close to the hills of Hnila Union in Teknaf upazila, Cox’s Bazar district on Sunday night.
Although the robbers fled deep into the hills upon sensing the presence of the Navy, a search of the hideout led to the recovery of one local pistol (LG) and 20 rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition.
On the same night, another operation was conducted at Debenga Para in Baro Maheshkhali Union under Maheshkhali upazila.
During the raid, the Navy detained Faruk, a wanted accused in multiple drug and arms-related cases, along with Tk 16,351 in cash and locally made sharp weapons.
