Navy hands over 192 barrack-style houses under Ashrayan project in Hatia

The Bangladesh Navy has formally handed over 192 barrack-style houses built for homeless and underprivileged people as well as 960 families in Hatia of Noakhali district under the Ashrayan-2 project. 

The houses were handed over to the local administration on Wednesday (May 24), says a press of Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) 

According to the ISPR press release, the 192 barrack-style houses for 960 homeless families were built by the Navy under the direct guidance of Prime Minister and the Prime Minister’s Office and the overall supervision of the Armed Forces Division. 

Each barrack has five units where each can accommodate a family. Each barrack has a separate kitchen and bathroom facility. 

On behalf of the local administration, representative of the Deputy Commissioner and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Kaiser Khasru formally took over the housing barracks built by the Navy. Navy representative Commander SM Zahid Hossain and local dignitaries were present on the occasion. 

Earlier,  the  Navy handed over 4,217 barrack houses to the local administration in 224 projects in Bagerhat, Bhola, Pirojpur, Barguna, Barishal, Jhalokati, Chattogram, Noakhali and Cox's Bazar districts under the Ashrayan-2 project. 

As many as 32,445 homeless families have found shelter in these barracks. Besides, construction of 152 barrack-style houses is currently underway under Commander Khulna Naval Zone, which will ensure the accommodation of 760 more landless families once completed.
