Navy Chief returns home

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal returned home on Sunday after completing his official trip to Sri Lanka and Maldives.

According to the ISPR handout, Assistant Navy Chief (operations) and Navy Administrative authorities Dhaka welcomed Navy Chief officially at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital Dhaka.

During the visit, the navy chief calls on Chief of Defence Force of Maldives Major General Abdulla Shamaal and Maldivian Defence Minister Mariya Didi. He also visited the office of Bangladesh High Commission in Maldives.

After the Maldives tour, the Chief of Naval Staff left for Sri Lanka.

In Sri Lanka, Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal calls on Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahindra Rajapaksha, Defence Ministry’s Secretary General (Retd) GDH Kamal Gunaratne, Navy Chief Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and chiefs of army and air force of the country.

The Chief of Naval Staff also paid a courtesy call on Rear Admiral Sanjeewa Dias, Commander of the Eastern Naval Area of the country.

He also visited the country’s naval and maritime academy and other places of interest.

It is also mentionable that Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal left Dhaka on 14 January for Sri Lanka and Maldives at the invitation of Sri Lankan Navy Chief and Maldives National Defence Force Chief.
