Natyadhara celebrates 27th anniv with theater festival

To mark its 27th founding anniversary, theater troupe Natyadhara has organized a three-day theater festival from 28th November to 30th November at the arranged at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

The Tanusree Padak was awarded to a young theater activist in recognition of their contribution in their field. The award is conferred to in honour of young theater activist Tanushree Gayen, who died a premature death in 1999.

Previously, ‘Tanusree Padak’ were conferred on Saidur Rahman Lipon, Nasirul Haque Khokon, Ashish Khandakar, Tropa Majumdar, Aminur Rahman Mukul, Kamaluddin Kabir, Dilip Chakrabarty, Jaglul Ahmed, Rahul Anand, Samina Luthfa Nitra, Shubhashish Sinha, Debasish Ghosh, Sudip Chakrabarty, Ruma Modok, Animesh Saha Litu, Topon Hafiz and Saila Sharmin.

Noted dance Guru Kabirul Islam Ratan with his troupe Nrityalok, presented a commemorative performance, recollecting the memories of his disciple Tanushree Gayen.   

On the opening day, Samatat Natyadal staged their pala production Ujan Bhaital Koinya. Kolkata-based theatre troupe Ifta will stage two shows of their play Dear Papa at 4:15 pm and 7:15 pm on the second day while Natyadhara’s popular production Charlie will be staged on the concluding day of the festival.
