Natore goes under lockdown

The local administration has locked down the Natore district from Thursday following a surge in coronavirus cases among people there. Deputy Commissioner Shah Riaz came up with the announcement on Thursday noon.

The restriction remained in force from 3:00pm on Thursday until further notice. A physician of Natore Sadar Hospital was diagnosed with coronavirus, creating panic among the doctors and health workers of the hospital.

Nine people, including the two health workers, were diagnosed with Covid-19 in Singra upazila of the district on Tuesday and Wednesday.

With an increase in coronavirus cases, the local administration and Coronavirus Preventing and Controlling Committee took the decision to put the whole district under lockdown.

Bangladesh has seen a surge in coronavirus cases in recent days. On Wednesday, the country reported 641 cases and eight deaths. 

Until then, the health authorities have confirmed 7,103 cases and 163 deaths. According to government data, 48 districts and 389 upazilas remain under complete lockdown.
