National Training Day today

The 24th National Training Day and 39th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Society for Training and Development (BSTD) will be observed through various programmes in the country today. President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the eve of the day wishing all success of the day’s programmes.

“To expedite the socio-economic development of a country, skilled, experienced, professional, service-oriented and industrious workforce is essential,” President Abdul Hamid said in a message today marking the National Training Day. Along with institutional education, there is no alternative to profession based improved and modern trainings to create skilled human resources, he added.

“The present government is playing a positive role to make different programmes taken by the government a success for human resource development,” Hamid said. The President lauded the role of BSTD in observing the day and hoped that it would continue its efforts to develop skilled manpower.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said realizing the importance of training, her government has taken various development and reform programmes for the sector. “Budget allocation for training sector has been increased. Priority has been given to infrastructural development of the training centers,” she said, adding that course duration of the foundation training for the cadre service officers was extended to six months.

She also said various reform programmes, including expanding the scope of training at home and abroad, is being implemented to develop Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) as a service-oriented and modern organization. She hoped that the BSTD will act as an auxiliary force in the coming days in implementing the government’s ‘Vision-2021’ and ‘Vision-2041’ and contribute in building ‘Sonar Bangla’ dreamt by the best Bengali of all times Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by developing human resources.
