National road safety day was observed in Jhenaidah district in a festive manner aiming at build Smart Bangladesh maintaining proper road safety laws. Bangladesh road transport authority (BRTA) organized the day. The superintendent of police (SP) and other police officials and BRTA officials had distributed leaflets and entertained the drivers on the roads to make them aware that was an attention drawing activities of the authorities.
A colourful rally was brought out from the office of the deputy commissioner (DC) where DC SM Rafiqul Islam had led. The rally was ended at the starting point parading the main roads in the town.
A discussion meeting was held at BRTA auditorium with additional district magistrate (ADM) Salma Salim in the chair. DC SM Rafiqul Islam, local government deputy director Yearul Islam, additional deputy commissioners Ariful Islam and Khalid Hasan, executive engineer of roads and highways department (RHD) Anwar Parvez, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Sadiya Jarin, district information officer Abu Bakar Siddique, BRTA assistant director Atiar Rahman, assistant commissioner (land) Sharmin Akter Sumi, BRTA transport inspector SM Sabuj, district traffic inspector Golam Morshed, highway traffic police station officer in charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman among others present.
The speakers urged upon the drivers to be careful and alert during driving and maintain laws to avoid the untoward accidents or incidents. SP Azim Ul Ahsan, additional SP SM Raju Ahmed and BRTA and traffic police officials had distributed leaflets and entertained with sweetmeats among the driver at some important roads in Jhenaidah as a part of their awareness programme.
