Marking the 60th birth anniversary of poet Khandokar Mahmudul Hasan, a celebration programme was held yesterday afternoon at the Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in Shahbag of the capital.
Arranged by Mahmudul Hasan Jonmoutsab Udjapon Parishad, the event featured felicitation, recitation and book launching.
Presided over by chairman of National Museum’s Board of Trustees, artist Hashem Khan, former director general of Bangla Academy, Shamsuzzaman Khan, present director general Habibullah Siraji, author Selina Hossain and children’s author Ali Imam were present as guests at the event and also unveiling of the cover of Khandokar Mahmudul Hasan’s book was accomplished too.
At the event, artistes of Mahmudul Hasan Jonmoutsab Udjapon Parishad recited poems of Mahmudul Hasan.
Born on August 25 in 1959,
Mahmudul Hasan published a number of 135 books.
His popular writings for children are—
’Goyenda Kahini’, ‘Advanture Golpo’, ‘Shikar Kahini’,
‘Jantto Bhuter Khoppore’, ‘Bhutore Boner Porabari’ and others.
He received Agrani Bank Children Literary Award and
M Nurul Kader Children Literary Award in the
categories of children’s literature.
He also got Bangladesh Sahitya Sangha Sommanona,
Rocky Sahitya Puroskar,
Researcher Abdul Haque Chowdhury
Memorial Award and others.
