National Mourning Day observed at US-Bangla Medical College

National Mourning Day was observed at US-Bangla Medical College with due dignity and solemnity. On this occasion, a discussion and prayer meeting was organized with all the teachers, officers and employees of the college.

The programme started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by the Principal of the College, Professor Brigadier General (Retd) Dr Md Azizul Islam. Among others, Vice Principal Dr. Md. Enayet Karim, Adviser of US-Bangla Medical College and Hospital Brigadier General (Retd) Sarkar Mohammad Sham, Professor Dr CM Reza Qureshi Farhad and Chief Librarian Md Zakirul Islam spoke at the time.

Vice Principal Dr Md Enayet Karim, who was a student leader of the then Medical College, recalled his association with Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman. He portrayed Bangabandhu's generosity, simplicity, tenderness and love for the country in pieces, which filled the audience with emotion. 

On this day of mourning, the principal of the college paid homage to the greatest Bengali architect of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other martyrs of August 15 carnage.

The principal highlighted some aspects of the great leader's life style and urged everyone to learn from it. He called upon all to be convinced of the goal of building a ‘Shonar Bangla’ by embracing the ideals of Bangabandhu. 

Finally, prayers were offered for the souls of all the martyrs of August 15 including Bangabandhu. Maulana Firoz Ahmed Mallick conducted the recitation of the Qur'an and the prayer mahfil.
