Panchagarh’s Tentulia upazila celebrated National Girl Child Day 2025 on Wednesday with the theme “I dream, I fight with courage, I work for the welfare of my country.”
The day began with a colourful procession that started from the Upazila Parishad premises and paraded through the Chaurasta Bazar area. Later, a discussion meeting was held in the Upazila Parishad hall room, presided over by Upazila Primary Education Officer Md Jahangir Alam.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) S M Akash attended the event as the chief guest. In his address, he said, “In the era of ignorance, girl children were mistreated and deprived of dignity. Sadly, even in today’s modern and civilised world, women continue to face discrimination within families and society both at home and abroad. We must eliminate this inequality and ensure women’s priority in education, nutrition, and healthcare.”
He added that girls should be raised equally with boys, not treated as lesser members of the family.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Syed Mahmudur Rahman and Upazila Youth Development Officer Abu Zafar Hawlader also spoke as special guests. Among others, NCP leader Habibur Rahman, journalist M A Baset, and student Fatema addressed the gathering.
