National Fisheries Week kicks off in Narail

An exchange of views was held with journalists on the occasion of National Fisheries Week-2021 in Narail on Saturday noon at around 12:00 pm. 

Narail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sadia Islam addressed the exchange meeting as chief guest which organized the District Fisheries Department at Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium. 

District Fisheries Officer HM Badruzzaman, Sadar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Enamul Haque, Assistant Director of District Fisheries Office Hosne Ara Happy spoke, among others. 

District Fisheries Officer HM Badruzzaman said, National Fisheries Week was started from Saturday (August 28) and will continue till September 3.  Campaign on the occasion of Fisheries Week includes district  Fisheries Department taking progammes to release fish in ponds, awarding prizes to successful fish farmer, individual and entrepreneurial organization, exchange of views with fish farmers and fishermen, provision of consultancy services on fish farming, soil and water testing of ponds as well as fish farming training for beneficiaries. 

A total of 8,600 ponds and 5,300 shrimp farms have produced fish in three upazilas of the district. From these farms 19,000 metric tons of fish and 3,000 metric tonnes of shrimp are produced every year, he informed.
