National Fisheries Week begins August 28

National Fisheries Week will be celebrated across the country from August 28 to September 3 following proper hygiene rules.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim made the remarks while addressing a preparatory meeting on the occasion of National Fisheries Week 2021 at his Secretariat Office in the capital on Wednesday.

He said, “National Fisheries Week 2021 is starting from August 28. It will be observed till September 03 following proper hygiene rules. The theme of this year’s National Fisheries Week is 'Farming more fish, eliminating unemployment'.” 

On the 1st day, 28th August, a press conference will be held on various programs of Fisheries Week. 

The official inauguration of National Fisheries Week 2021 will be held on 29th August at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital. Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will join as the chief guest. 

At the end of the inauguration ceremony, she will release fish fries in the lake of Jatiya Sangsad.

Additional Secretaries of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Shyamal Chandra Karmakar, Subol Bose Moni and Md. Taufiqul Arif, Joint Secretary SM Ferdous Alam and Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman, Additional Director General of the Department of Fisheries Kha. Mahabubul Haque and senior officials of the Ministry and Fisheries Department were present at the meeting.
