The National Film Awards were announced on November 7 for the films of 2017 and 2018. The award ceremony will be held today. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be present as chief guest and hand over the prizes to the winners at the 'Hall of Fame' auditorium of the Bangabandhu Convention Center in the capital.
A total of 64 people will be awarded in 28 categories for films of the last two years. ATM Shamsuzzaman and Begum Sujata will be given the lifetime achievement award for 2017. Probir Mitro and Alamgir will be given the lifetime achievement award for 2018.
The best films of the two years are 'Dhaka Attack' (2017) and 'Putro' (2018). The best actors are jointly Shakib Khan for ‘Swatta’ (2017) and Arefin Shuvo for Dhaka Attack (2017). Best actors of the year 2018 were Ferdous for 'Putro' (2018), and Saimon for ‘Jannat’ (2018).
Nusrat Imroz Tisha (Halda) was the best actress of the year 2017 and Jaya Ahsan (Devi) was the best actress of the year for 2018. Dipankar Dipan's 'Dhaka Attack' (2017) and Saiful Islam Mannu's ‘Putro’ (2018) were awarded as the best film of the year. Badrul Anam Saud received the Best Director Award for the film 'Gohin Baluchor' (2017) and Mostafizur Rahman for 'Jannat' (2018).
Actors Purnima and Ferdous will host the cultural programme for the second phase of the National Film Awards. Mahi, Emon, Apu Biswas, Toma Mirza, Bobby, Nusrat Faria and Zayed Khan will perform at the cultural event. Khurshid Alam, Momotaz, Nokib Khan, Samina Chowdhury and Kona will sing during the event.
