A views exchange meeting was held with the beekeepers of all over the country, organised by the government registered organization 'National Apiculture Foundation'.
The meeting was held at the ASM Kamal Uddin Memorial Auditorium of the Sugarcrop Research Institute (BSRI) located in Ishwardi, Pabna on Sunday morning. BSRI Director General (DG) Md. Omar Ali spoke as the chief guest at the meeting.
As special guests Dr. Ahsanul Haque Swapon, Professor of Entomology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University; Jagadish Chandra Saha, General Manager (Retd.) of BSIC and former Director (Beekeeping Project); Dr. Mst. Ismat Ara, Director (TOT) of BSRI; Dr. Md. Ataur Rahman, Chief Scientist Officer; Syed Muhammad Moinul Anwar of Alwan Madhu Museum and Research Center, Chattogram and Jamshed Majumder, Director of 'Gharer Bazar' in Bansree, Dhaka spoke. Apart from this, Organizing Secretary of Beekeeping and National Apiculture Foundation Ohidul Islam, Beekeeper Monir Hossain spoke in the meeting. President of National Apiculture Foundation Md. Abu Hanif Khan chaired the meeting while treasurer of the organization Wazed Ali Chowdhury, conducted it.
In the meeting, the speakers talked about various issues including beekeeping, queen bee cultivation and conservation, supply of bee food at affordable prices, production and marketing of unadulterated honey, producing quality honey and exporting it to the outside world. Besides, the speakers expressed the hope that Sugarcrop Research Institute will play a special role in the cooperation of beekeepers.
