Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said his office would announce the schedule of the upcoming 12th general elections in October this year. The election will be held in the last week of December this year or first week of January next, the CEC told reporters at a media briefing on Sunday.

Like in the past, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is day dreaming for re-installation of the interim or caretaker government provision in the Constitution but all know and their dream will never be fulfilled. On the other hand, country’s peace loving people and pro-liberation forces want to get rid of the curse of frequent terror acts patronised by ‘BNP-Jamaat clique’.

BNP   should   participate   in   the   next general elections as the existence of the party is on the verge of extinction.

Country’s people expect that the next general elections should be held in a free, fair, neutral and peaceful manner with the participation of all parties. In this regard, all political parties should extend all-out support to the commission in holding free, fair and participatory elections.

People will decide

 who will run

the country

We believe people will cast their vote in favour of the respective candidates in Bangladesh. The political parties which believe in democracy and peace and nurture the spirit and ideals of the Great Liberation War will contest next polls.

It is known to all AL is always an election-oriented democratic party, which believes in election to change the government. The party (AL) never used the backdoor for grabbing power; rather it always assumes state power through elections.

But BNP wants to go to power in an illegal way.  Like in the past, the clique is plotting to return to power through the backdoor in the next elections.

The election is the best way for government changeover. People will decide who will run the country. Those who think they can foil the next general elections and topple the government through some rallies are living in a fools’ paradise.
