The National Jute Day was observed in Jhenaidah with a view to building Smart Jute Industrial Bangladesh of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Jhenaidah district administration and district jute office organized the programme jointly.
A rally was taken out from the office of the Deputy Commissioner that ended at the starting point parading main roads in the town.
Later, a discussion was held in the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) with acting DC Rathindra Nath Roy in the chair.
Jhenaidah district council executive officer (EO) Salim Reza, district jute officer in Jhenaidah M Abdul Baqi, district rice mill owners’ association president Moazzem Hossain, Emas Footwear managing director Obaidul Haque Rasel, among others, participated in the discussion.
The speakers laid emphasis on multipurpose uses of the jute fibres and jute-made products considering its potentials and environment-friendly contents.
Later, five persons were awarded in separate categories.
