Nasrul for utilising USA’s experience in electric vehicle, smart grid

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has underscored the need for utilizing USA’s experience in electric vehicle, smart grid, IOT device and thus framing a practical policy in this regard, reports BSS.

The State Minister came up with the view when he met Assistant Secretary at the Department of Energy Resources of USA Francis R Fannon at Washington DC on December 5, said a Ministry press release.

During the meeting, they discussed issues relating to mutual interests as well as power and energy cooperation.

Mentioning that the government of Bangladesh is now giving priority to the distribution of the power sector, Nasrul said the government is also putting due emphasis on attracting necessary investment in this regard.

“We’ll have to work a lot in upgrading and constructing new infrastructures and adopting new technologies. It’s also a challenge for increasing the use of power,” he said.

Both the State Minister and the Assistant Secretary discussed LNG, cell gas, renewable energy and investment in Public-Private-Partnership (PPP in detail.

US Assistant Secretary Francis said the interest of the US investors towards Bangladesh is gradually increasing day by day and the scope of investment would be further widened if necessary cooperation is extended.

Later, the State Minister attended a roundtable meeting with the members of USA Chambers of Commerce and urged them to invest in the country’s potential power and energy sector.
